Saturday, the 2nd day of our weekend in Sunriver, was the day of my race. I did the half marathon. The weather was cooler than it had been the year before, so I felt that would be helpful in my overall time. My goal was to try and run about an 8:30 pace and beat my time from 2 years previous. I started out feeling pretty good. I stuck to the pace, although I felt like I could run faster. As the miles ticked off, I was glad I hadn't gone out too fast. I started to get tired, but I felt like I could maintain that pace. As the race neared the end, I somehow thought I was way off pace, so I started to push myself, only to find out that I was still holding steady at about 8:30. I was worried I wouldn't beat my time. I ran as hard and as fast as I could. And when I finished, I had beat my time from a couple of minutes. I was so happy! I also ended up placing 3rd in my ago division. So at awards time I got a little recognition. Overall, I was happy with my race.
I have no pics at this time. I'll try to find some and download them later.

Pacific Crest Day 1
One of the last weekends in June, our family went to Sunriver, along with two other families, to participate in the Pacific Crest Sports Endurance Weekend. It's the 3rd time we've gone. It's a weekend of sporting events. We all sign up to do something, some of us, more than one thing. Friday, the first day, was Jeff's trail running event and Sam and Simon's Kids Tri.
Jeff's trail run is a point to point run, so I drove him up early to the start. It's about a 17-18 miles trail run. He did great, and beat his time from last year. It wasn't too hot, so that was nice.
Later in the afternoon, Sam and Simon did the Kids Tri. It's called Splash, Pedal and Dash. They run through a wading pool, get on their bikes and ride about 3/4 of a mile, and then leave their bikes to run about a half mile. It's a lot of fun.

End of School Year Fun
On June 13, the school year finally came to an end. It's always bittersweet for me to see the school year end. I'm happy and looking forward to summer and a break from homework and school activities, but I'm also sad because I realize that my boys are another year older and growing so quickly. But since I can't stop time, I will try to enjoy the moments we are given. Here's a look back at some of the end of the year activities.

Sam's School Play
Towards the end of the school year, Sam's class, along with the 3rd grade classroom, put together a musical to perform. It was about growing kids for Jesus and helping others. It was a very cute play. They performed it twice, the first time was a Thursday evening, and the second time was Friday at chapel. At the Thursday evening performance, they raised money for ADRA. I think they raised about $500.00. They were very excited about that. I thought they did great.

Daniel and Pathfinders
This past year, Daniel has been involved in Pathfinders at our church. He's gone to meetings twice a month. He's participated in getting honors and taking the classes that they teach. And in the spring, they do the whole church service. So for church, Daniel played the piano for offertory. He did a great job. Also, all of the kids who are in Pathfinders, give a part of the sermon. Daniel did that too, and he did a great job. We are very proud of him!

Spring Music Concert
The boys had their spring music concert at school in May. Simon's class sang some songs. Sam's class also sang songs and played ukeleles. Daniel's class sang songs. Also, he was in the band with his trombone. Also, Daniel accompanied the older students with a song at the end of the concert. All of the boys did a great job. It was a nice concert.

Simon's Class does Chapel
Back on May 4th, Simon's class at school was in charge of chapel that day. And since it was May the 4th, they decided to do a Stars Wars theme play. Simon was one of the main characters in the play. Here's a look at his action in the play!

Piano Recital
Towards the end of last April, the boys had their spring piano recital. All 3 boys are taking piano now, so it was fun to see them all be part of this years' recital. Their piano teacher holds it at her church which is near downtown Beaverton. She has about half of her students participate in the first hour, then the other half a second hour, so it's not too long. The boys did great. I was very proud of them.

Sam Turns 10!
Our middle son Sam had a birthday on May 12, and he hit the double digits with the big 10! He was very happy about this. We did a few things to celebrate. We went out to dinner after Wings and Waves. He got a little ice cream with a candle. This year we did not have a big class party, but he got to invite a friend to go bowling and have dinner with. He invited his friend, Dylan from school. Also, we spent a day with family where he got to open some gifts. We got him a new bike for his birthday, which he seems to be enjoying.

Wings and Waves
About an hour from here in McMinneville, is an indoor water park called Wings and Waves. It's right next to the airplane museum where the Spruce Goose is housed. It's a fun place to go, the boys really like it. We went to celebrate Sam's birthday. Also, we invited our friends the Andersons to go with us. Sam had to wear a cap to keep his cut from getting wet. But this didn't stop the boys from having a lot of fun.
