Shamrock Run Weekend Part 2

Sunday morning, my sisters and I (along with Gary) got up early to catch the Max and head down to the Waterfront where the Shamrock Run starts.  We were hoping the rain would wait for us to finish our runs first, but it started raining on our way down to the race.  We got there early, then stood under some shelter to keep from getting too wet before we started running.  My race started first (I ran the 1/2 marathon), so I left them to go wait in line.  Then our group was off.  It was raining, and it really didn't stop at all.  We were soaked by the time it was all over.  My sisters ran the 8K.  Ironically, we all 3 finished about the same time.  We walked around a little bit, but then we were cold and wet, so we headed back home and back to some hot showers and food.  We were all glad we had done it, even if it wasn't a nice sunny run.

Shamrock Run Weekend Part 1

The weekend of March 14 and 15, my family came to visit.  My parents drove over from Coeur d'Alene, my sisters, Laura and Cheryl, along with Laura's husband Gary, flew here as well.  My sisters decided a few months ago that they wanted to run the Shamrock Race with me.

It was really great to have everyone here.  We had a nice time.  On Friday, we went down to the Convention Center to pick up our packets and walked around a bit.

Then we came home.  The weather was decent (meaning not raining) so we sat outside and visited.

On Saturday we decided to take Max and go downtown.  Even though it was raining, we walked down to 23rd and looked in a few shops.  We had ice cream at Salt and Straw.  Next we walked to Powell's Bookstore and browsed a few books.  A man was making flowers out of napkins and paper cups.  He gave one to Sam.  Then we walked to dinner.  Finally we headed back home.

Daniel's Basketball and Simon's Field Trip

Two Thursdays ago, Simon had a field trip with his preschool class to the Portland Aquarium.  It's quite small but very hands on and has lots of animals.  We were guided through about 3 rooms.  Most of them had things the kids could touch gently.  We had a nice time.

Then the next Thursday, Daniel had his last basketball game of the season.  He had a great time learning how to play basketball this year.  I think he made huge improvements from the first game to the last game.

Boys' Piano Recital

I'm really behind in my blogging.  We've had lots going on around here!  I will try and catch up over the next few days, so keep checking the blog for updates on what our family is doing!

The weekend of March 1,  Daniel and Sam had their piano recital.  I was very proud of them.  They memorized their songs and did a great job playing!  Daniel played the theme song from James Bond and the song, Don't Get Around Much Anymore.  Sam played the song, It's a Small World.  I thought they did great!  Here are some pics.
