On March 18, I ran in the Portland Shamrock Half Marathon. I think this is my 3rd or 4th year running the half since they started it. The weather wasn't horrible. It was cloudy and cool, but it didn't rain, and it was a little sunny by the end of the race. I set out to try to beat my time from 2 years ago. Now that I am running with my new watch, I can gauge my pace a little better. I started out keeping on pace through the first half of the race. But it's the second half that gets challenging because of the hills. I fell a little behind pace, but I thought it might still be close. As I came to the finish, I thought I was a minute over my desired finish time. And when I was done, I thought I had not beat my time from 2 years ago. But when I got home and checked the time to beat again, I realized that I had beat my time from 2 years ago by almost 2 minutes! I had remembered the wrong time or something. I was very excited about my finish. Now on to the next run!
