Daniel's Baptism

On September 22, Daniel and his friend Cody were baptized in the Sandy River.  We went out to Oxbow Park after church.  We met up with other friends and family.  Around 3:00 we walked down to the river, and they were baptized.  When it came to their actual baptism, it poured down rain.  The rest of the day was fairly nice.  It was really neat to see Daniel make this big step in his life.

1st Day of School 2018

On Monday, August 27, 2018, we began a new school year.  Simon is 8 and in the 3rd grade, Sam is 10 and in the 5th grade, Daniel is 12 and in the 7th grade, and I am teaching 6th grade this year.  So far the school year has been going well.  We've all had to learn a thing or two about our new teachers and our new grades, but I think everyone is doing well.  I am enjoying teaching 6th grade.  It's a lot of stuff to learn new all over again, but I'm enjoying it and really liking this age group.

Hood to Coast 2018

This year in August, we ran Hood to Coast again.  This was our 5th year running it.  Hood to Coast is a 200 mile relay race.  There are 12 people on a team with 2 vans, 6 people in each van.  Someone is running continuously the entire time.  It took our team about 28 hours to complete the race.  It was a lot of fun.  Our van had me, Jeff, Lee, Donald, Ryan and Malinda.  Here's a look at a few pictures.

Simon's Birthday

When we got back from Sunriver, the next week was Simon's birthday.  He turned 8 on August 20.  We celebrated that night with a few cupcakes.  Then the next day we went over to Aunt Debbie's and Uncle Todd's house to celebrate with the rest of the family.  Our friends Don and Sandy came too.  It was also Grandma and Grandpa Youker's Anniversary on Aug. 20, so we celebrated that too.  We had a nice dinner together and helped Simon turn 8!  My baby is growing up!

Sunriver Bike Ride

When we go to Sunriver, we have this bike ride we like to do on Sabbath Afternoons.  It's usually about 6 miles out and 6 miles back.  It starts on the paved trails in Sunriver and then takes you out to the dirt path.  It finishes along the river.  We usually stop at the falls, although you could go farther if you wanted to.  We stop, look around, take some pictures.  It's really pretty.

Sunriver

This August, we went to Sunriver with Jeff's parents.  They got there a day ahead of me, and I got there the next day.  The day I wasn't there they floated down the river and had a great time!  The next day I took Sam and Simon miniature golfing and bumper cart riding.  Jeff took Daniel mountain biking.  In the afternoon everyone went to the pool.  Here's a look:

4th of July

This year for the 4th of July, we were at home.  Jeff took Daniel and Sam mountain biking in the morning.  Simon and I went to the small parade and festivities that take place in our neighborhood.  After that, we all came home.  We went over to a friend's house for lunch, and it was a nice way to catch up with family and friends.  That evening we drove home, and discovered that our cul-de-sac would be doing their own fireworks again.  So we sat and watched.  It was a fun day!

Leavenworth

To celebrate our 15 year anniversary this year, Jeff and I took a trip without the boys to Leavenworth, WA.  We drove up on Friday morning.  We looked around the town a little bit and played some mini golf.

On Saturday we drove to Lake Chelan and took a boat across to the town of Stehekin.  You can only get to it by boat or by hiking in.  There are no roads that lead to it.  We got there, rented bikes, and rode around the town.  It was cute.

On Sunday we looked around the town again, played more mini golf and relaxed by the pool.

On Monday we drove back.  It was a nice trip.  It's a very cute town.
