Not Much

Not too much has been going on here lately.  We are busy with work and going to school.  We got our basement fixed, so that was good news.  I am training for the Shamrock Half Marathon which takes place in a couple of weeks.  Here are a couple of pics of recent days.  Last month we got snow, which was exciting for us.  And Simon has lost his first two teeth.  Here is a pic of the first one he lost.

Visit to CDA for Christmas

During Christmas vacation this last year we went to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to see my parents and sister and her family.  We were there a few days.  We got to play in the snow.  We visited the "north pole" on a boat ride across Lake Coeur d'Alene.  We hiked around Tubbs Hill.  The boys had a lot of fun.  Daniel got sick for part of that, and that wasn't so fun.  But the rest of the time they enjoyed playing and hanging out with their cousins.

Beach Weekend

Although I have some back posts that I want to write about from December and January, I want to jump ahead and talk about last weekend when we went to the beach.  My parents came with us.  We rented our usual house at Manzanita Beach.  We like that house because it is so close to the beach, the town and the park.  We got there Friday evening.  It was too late to go to the beach that night.  We had dinner then went to bed.  We hoped that the rain would hold and we would have some nice weather to go to the beach on Saturday.

The next morning, Jeff and I got up to do a run.  It was sunny a bit, so my mom decided to take the boys down to the beach to play.  Daniel had been sick, so he stayed back with my dad.  We started our run, but in about mile 2, we got hit with a hail storm.  It was pretty crazy.  I don't think I've ever run in hail before.  Fortunately, it stopped and we were able to continue running.  My mom told us later that she and the boys had run back to the house for cover because they too had been out on the beach when the hail storm hit.  But that was the weather pattern for the rest of the day.  It would be sunny, then a storm of rain or hail would blow through, then it would be sunny again.  So we did get some opportunities to have some beach time.

During the times that it rained, we played some board games and watched some TV.  Daniel was well enough to walk down to the beach a couple of times.  It was a fun trip.  We love going to the beach.
